Seriki Olubadan dies at 92
The Seriki Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Adebayo Oyediji is dead. He died on Friday at a private hospital in Ibadan, aged 92.
He had been at loggerhead with the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan-in-Council over refusal to recognise him as the next Olubadan after the death of Oba Samuel Odulana on January 19, 2016.
In one of the suits filed against Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, the Attorney General of the state and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, before an Oyo State High Court, the late Oyediji prayed the court to invalidate the installation of the Olubadan.
He claimed that the recognition granted Adetunji in 2016 was wrong, illegal, null and void and of no effect. He also instituted several suits in Oyo State High Courts claiming that he should be the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land going by his seniority in the Olubadan-in-Council hierarchy.
