Suspected thugs set RAC office ablaze in Ebonyi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Registration Area Centres (RAC), situated at the Community Secondary School, Okposi Umuoghara in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was set ablaze by suspected thugs in the early hours of yesterday.

It was gathered that the thugs invaded the centre at about 2:15am and attacked the officials. They were said to have shot sporadically scaring people away, before setting the centre ablaze, burning INEC sensitive materials in the process.

The state Resident Electoral Commission (REC), Professor Godswill Obioma, who confirmed the incident, said he got the report, noting that he has passed it to INEC headquarters.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Loveth Odah Ebonyi said the command was looking into the matter.
