Tambuwal canvasses deployment of ICT to curb insurgency
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to deploy information and communication technology (ICT) and appoint competent service chief from North West region to tackle insecurity in the country.
Tambuwal, who was part of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegation to Bauchi State at the weekend, said it was necessary for the Army to effectively tame terrorism and insurgency.
We urge the President to appoint a service chief from the North West from either the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of State Services (DSS) or the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
“We appeal to President Buhari to employ competent and qualified officers to oversee the nation’s security apparatuses. We know that Nigeria is under-policed and there is need for more hands. Particularly, we need more recruitment in the Nigeria Army
“We also implore the President to deploy more ICT equipment for those who are in forefront of banditry; kidnapping and insurgency,” he said.
