Trinity Secondary School Alumni donate library to alma mater

Towards promoting the culture of reading among students, the Alumni association of Trinity Secondary School, Olodi Apapa, Lagos, has commissioned a new library project to the alma mater.

During the commissioning, the President of the alumni, Dr Obina Awiaka, said the gesture was part of the association’s efforts to improve academic excellence among the students.

He decried the low rates of reading habit among students, noting that their contribution would help salvage the situation. He said, “We felt that the students need to cultivate the habit of reading and if they want to read, they need a conducive place to read and in that conducive place, they need the right textbooks to also read.”

He disclosed that their next project to be commissioned soon would be an e-library, which is already in the works.

While admonishing the students, Awiaka, noted, “giving back to the society goes a long way as it enhances political, economical and social developments in the state.”

Principal of the school, Lawal Olayinka, who expressed gratitude and joy for the kind gesture, said: “I feel very happy and fulfilled that the old students of the school are giving back to their alma mater. There are no better words to use than to say: “May God bless you all.’’
