UN appoints Bauchi speaker peace advocate

United Nations has appointed the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Abubakar Suleiman, as International Peace Advocate.

United Nations has appointed the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Abubakar Suleiman, as International Peace Advocate.

The appointment followed the speaker’s Ph.D (honoris causa) in Social Justice and Peace Advocacy from the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, United Nations-POLAC, in affiliation with University College of Christian Mission.

During the appointment, in commemoration of International Day of Peace at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, the Director-General of Positive Livelihood Award Centre (POLAC), Prof. Halo Eton, described the speaker as an individual of proven integrity, who exhibits the ideals of living for others and commits himself to promoting universal moral values, strong family life, society harmony, inter-religious and inter-ethnic cooperation as well as the culture of peace.
