UNILAG Muslim alumni hold pre Ramadan lecture




University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) is set to hold its 22nd pre – Ramadan lecture on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the university’s main auditorium.

The lecture, titled: “The Muslim: Between idea and contemporary perception” is geared towards enlightening both Muslims and non-Muslims to learn more about the religion, and surrounded misconceptions.

According to the Chairman of the event’s organising committee, Dr. Saheed Rufai, speakers at the lecture include Prof. Yusef Waghid of the Department of Education Policy Studies, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and Founder of Darul-Ifta’wan-Najaat Arabic School, Oworonshoki, Lagos, Sheikh Muhammad Abdul-Malik, who would be addressing the audience in English and Yoruba respectively.

Rufai, who disclosed that the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Rahaman Bello would be the chief host, while Mr. Tijani Folawiyo, chairs the event, said the event would feature presentation of scholarship awards to post graduate students.
