Unizik VC urges more devt commitment from alumni

The Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Charles Esimone, has urged the university alumni to increase its contribution to development of the university.

Esimone gave the advice, yesterday, during the inauguration of five new ultra modern offices for the Department of Estate Management, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, of the institution.

He stated that the renovated offices, attracted by Dr. Joseph Onyejiaka of the Department of Estate Management, through the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Arnold & Associates, Mr. Arnold Ekweoba, and Sure Homes & Land, Mr. Osorachukwu Ani, was aimed at solving office space challenge in the department.

Esimone, who described the benefactors as worthy ambassadors of the university, commended them for their magnanimity, promising that the institution will put the facilities into good use.

He also commended Onyejiaka for attracting the project, even as he solicited for more developmental projects from friends and associates of the institution.

The VC announced his approval for the takeoff of three new programmes, including, Water Resources, Urban and Rural Planning and Maritime Institute, all under the faculty. He added: “We promise more support to the faculty, including building and furnishing of more offices, to make them conducive.

“The time has come for the university alumni to increase its contribution to the development of the university.”
