UNN student rescued from attempted suicide in Enugu

A suicide case was aborted in Enugu State yesterday as residents rescued a 24-year-old student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) who drank poisonous substance to end her life.

A suicide case was aborted in Enugu State yesterday as residents rescued a 24-year-old student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) who drank poisonous substance to end her life.

The student, whose name was given as Chinwendu Odoh from Enugu Ezike, Igbo eze north local council was said to have taking a substance suspected to be Snipper insecticide, but was rushed to the hospital by residents before much harm could come upon her.

Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident said the 200-level student in the Microbiology department, may be reacting to depression over a long held issue.

Amaraizu stated that she was promptly rushed to the Royal Cross Hospital Nsukka where she was being revived, adding that investigations have started on the matter. He said the student was responding to treatment.
