Unscrupulous politicians are sewing police, military uniforms, Edgal alleges


Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal yesterday alleged that unscrupulous politicians in the state are sewing police and military uniforms for civilians to infiltrate the state.

Edgal made the disclosure at the 2019 Lagos Chamber of Commerce Industry (LCCI) ‘Security meets Business’ Dialogue Session yesterday.

According to the police boss, “I have received intelligence report that some unscrupulous politicians are sewing police uniforms and military to infiltrate the state.” He therefore warned those perpetrating the act to desist to avoid being nabbed. He said, “They should not try it. We are working on that and if they try it, they will face stiff resistance and those caught would be made to face the full weight of the law,”

He further stressed that the police would continue to partner security agencies in the state to reduce crime rate and strengthen the security in Lagos State especially during the 2019 Presidential election.Speaking at the event, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha who was represented by Shade Kaiafas appreciated security operatives for discharging their duties in creating enabling business environment.

”We acknowledge the effort of the government and the security agencies for their actions. Nevertheless, a lot still needs to be done”.

Also speaking at the event, the commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Tajudeen Balogun revealed that that the major cause of insecurity in the state is negligence of private individuals to employ the service of private guard without confirming their genuine identity from the corps. He said “it is unfortunate that many companies just employ private guards without verifying their background which may jeopardize their safety”
