Imo State governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma has commended efforts made by individuals and corporate organisations to complement his government’s commitment towards enhancing education standard in the state.
He stated that his administration would continue to give priority attention to education, which he described as the bedrock for overall development of the state.
Uzodinma stated this while commissioning a five-room toilet facility built and donated to Okigwe National Grammar School, OKINGS by a renowned philanthropist and businessman based in Houston Taxas, USA, Chief Chibuzor Onyedim.
Uzodimma, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Barr. Sir Major Emenike, lauded the donor for the gesture, describing him as a worthy partner in his educational vision for the state.
The Imo governor, who also applauded the members of the OKINGS Old Boys’ Association led by Pharm. Ifeanyi Maduike for upholding the vision of their alma mater.
He pledged to assist in ensuring that the school receives needed infrastructural attention to guarantee conducive atmosphere for studying and learning therein.
He solicited more private support to enable his government guarantee quality and quantitative education in the state as well as to continually meet the needs of the citizens.
The Governor also urged them and Imo people at large to support his reelection agenda for consolidation and more dividends of democracy.
Presenting the keys of the toilet facility to the Principal of the school, Mrs. Chinyere Nwafor, Maduike charged her on its judicious usage, stressing that the Old Boys will continue to do their best towards the school’s sustainability and development.
The gesture according to Onyedim, who is 1980 old boys’ set of the school was to assist with efforts to give facelift to the famous citadel of learning in the state.
Our reporter gathered that the project, built at the overall cost of Five Million Naira, was one of the many other humanitarian gestures of the Onyedim’s to the school.
The event was witnessed by members of OKINGS Old Boys Association, staff of the school among others, including Chief Mike Omeihe, National Secretary, Chief Chimezie Akanonu, National Treasurer, Chief Agiriga Amobi, National Financial Secretary and Chief Tom Ezurike.
Others are Christopher Ukabia, Chief Tony Metu, Chief Osuchukwu Innocent, Chief Emma Ebili, Chief Chukwuemeka Uchendu, Mr. Nwachuku Ikechukwu, Mr. Anyadike Chijioke, Mr. Samuel Okpalaeke, Mr. Anthony Ekwebelem, Mr. Peter Ezekwem among many other personality.
