Woman re-arraigned in Borno for alleged N12.7 million fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has re-arraigned Dookenger Takon, on a four-count amended charge bordering on cheating, forgery, and obtaining by false pretense of N12.8 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has re-arraigned Dookenger Takon, on a four-count amended charge bordering on cheating, forgery and obtaining by false pretense of N12.8 million.

She was arraigned before Justice Umaru Fadawu at the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri.

Takon was first arraigned on October 28, 2020, before her re-arraignment alongside her company, X-traordinaire Designs Ltd in Maiduguri.

The prosecution counsel, Mukhtar Ahmed informed the court of the amended charge and asked that the defendant be invited to take her plea.

The defendant, however; pleaded not guilty to the four-count charges

Ahmed, informed the court that the second prosecution witness was in court and ready to continue with the trial.

The defence counsel, I. H Ngada pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to enable him to study the amended charge.

Justice Fadawu granted his prayers and adjourned till October 6, 2021, for continuation of trial.

He, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the correctional facility of Maiduguri along Baga road.
