A senior agriculture economist at the World Bank, Dr. Tunji Oredipe, has commended the Federal Government for not embarking on “policy summersault in the agriculture sector.”

Speaking on the newly launched agriculture policy of the Buhari administration during an NTA Network News monitored, he said, “the fear has however been positively addressed with the new policy document launched today.”

He expressed hope that with full participation of financial institutions such as, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Bank Of Industry (BOI), the “issue of finance for agriculture would be finally resolved, as the donor community would support the initiative.”

Oredipe commended the “selectivity in the process of participation with involvement of the state and local governments, broadening of focused crops to include live stock and the change of fertilizer from general to location based utilisation.”
