Yobe earmarks N7.8b to complete health, education projects
Yobe State government has earmarked N7.77 billion to complete capital projects in the health and education sectors of the economy.
Governor Mai Mala Buni recently enrolled over 50,000 vulnerable persons into the Expanded Healthcare Delivery (EFHD) scheme to access healthcare.
Earmarking the fund for the various projects, at the weekend, in Damaturu, the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Lamin, disclosed that the State Executive Council (SEC) approved N7,771,564,656 to upgrade facilities in the two critical sectors.
He said the State Education Trust Fund (SETF) would gulp N4.53 billion with the modalities of implementing its various projects.
According to the commissioner, this will also enhance healthcare delivery and improve people’s living conditions across the state.
He further disclosed that the health projects include procurement of medical equipment and curtains, supply of hospital furniture and installation of medical oxygen/piping at the Maternal and Child Healthcare Centre as well as Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH), Damaturu.
