Worried over the gradual decay of family values in the society, an organisation labeled Model Women Foundation says ,it’s poised to groom young girls in relationship and financial skills.

The programme is billed to commence on 29th August in Port Harcourt and is the seventh on the series tagged “Mom and Daughter Ball”.

 

According to the convener, Pastor Favour Osiri -Wisdom, the event will arm young girls with parenting and financial skills preparing them for the future.

 

Pastor Osiri- Wisdom who is a Marriage and Relationship Counsellor told newsmen that this year’s theme “The Wealth Within : Nurturing Financial Confidence in Mothers and Daughters” will boost knowledge of young girls about money and how to utilize it for better life.

 

She stated that the week long programme will also educate mothers on parental skills pointing out that there are a lot of relationship gaps between them and their girl child.

 

Osiri-Wisdom said, ” the bond between mothers and daughters are key to boost the confidence of their female children. Absence of bonding affects the psyche of young girls later in life. ”

 

Another key speaker at the programme and Social Media Influencer Dr. Ella Ezeadiliejie expressed worry over the vulnerability of the girl child in a changing world without strong values.

 

Ezeadiliejie reasoned that the old African pattern is giving way to a more liberal grooming methods, but insisted on intentional parenting to achieve better results.

 

On her part, Founder of Women in Port Harcourt, Mrs. Wendy Prince- Amadi emphasized on entrepreneurial skills for young girls.

 

Mrs. Prince-Amadi decried the situation where lots of young girls go into marriage and relationship without adequate skills to manage their finances to be self reliant.

 

If armed with skills, she said young girls can be able to create values, strengthen their marriages and relationships.

 

Commending the organisers of the programme, Founder Sur -Thrive Media, Dr. Chioma Ezenwafor said “The Mom & Daughter Ball ” has reached over 2,250 mothers and daughters across Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja and Enugu, through mentorship, healing conversations, financial education and practical life skills sessions.

 

Dr. Ezenwafor said the programme will fill the yearning gap between mothers and daughters relationships and improve values that will support family wellbeing.
