Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM) has mourned the passing of a distinguished statesman and steadfast advocate of the Yoruba Nation, Dr. Wale Adeniran, who died on July 26, 2026, at the age of 81. 

This was contained in a press statement signed by Dr. Gbile Oshadipe, Media Adviser, Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM) on Tuesday.

An accomplished academic and former university lecturer, Dr. Adeniran served as the pioneer Commissioner for Education in Osun State in 1992.

He devoted the latter part of his life to the Yoruba cause, championing the preservation of Yoruba heritage, language and traditional governance structures.

His unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Yoruba Nation, guided by the principles of the 2007 United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, will remain an enduring part of his legacy.

“We pray that Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
