The Zamfara State Hospital Service Management Board, has conducted inspection visit to General Hospital Gusau, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the full implementation and effective utilization of the Hospital automation system.
The visit was aimed at assessing the progress made in the deployment of the automated system, identifying challenges affecting its implementation, and putting necessary measures in place to ensure that all relevant hospital services are fully integrated into the system.
During the inspection, the Board’s team under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Mustapha Marafa, engaged with the hospital management and relevant staff to review the level of compliance, operational challenges, equipment and other requirements needed for the smooth running of the automation.
Marafa expresse that hospital automation is an important component of the ongoing reforms in the health sector, as it will help modernize hospital administration, improve documentation and record keeping, enhance accountability, and make healthcare services more efficient.
According to him, the automation is also expected to minimize reliance on manual processes reduce delays, improve access to patients information, strengthen revenue monitoring and provide reliable data for effective planning and decision making.
He further called on the hospital management and staff to cooperate fully with the implementation process and familiarize themselves with the system to ensure its effective use.
The visit encouraged staff to embrace the transition from traditional manual procedures, to digital processes as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
Marafa emphasized that continuous improvement, teamwork and commitment among stakeholders remain critical to strengthening healthcare services across Zamfara State.

In his response, the Medical Director General Hospital Gusau, Dr. Liman Gambo welcomed the Hospital Services Management Board (HSMB), and expressed appreciation for the Board’s visit and commitment to strengthening healthcare service delivery.
He assured the Board that the hospital management would take all necessary measures to ensure the smooth implementation and effective operation of the automation system across all departments of the hospital.
Gambo further pledged the cooperation and support of the hospital’s management and staff, emphasizing that all relevant departments would work together to ensure the successful integration of the automated system into the hospital’s operations.
He noted that the automation would enhance efficiency, accountability, coordination and service delivery, while improving the overall experience of both healthcare workers and patients.
The assurance comes as Zamfara continues to advance the digital transformation of its healthcare system, including the integration of Hospital Information Management Systems aimed at improving service delivery and accountability.
The inspection visit therefore forms part of the Board’s continued commitment to strengthening hospital management, promoting transparency and accountability, and ensuring that modern technology is effectively deployed to improve healthcare service delivery across the State.
