Zamfara killings: DHQ to sustain operation Sharan Daji

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said it would sustain the ongoing operation Sharan Daji in the North West zone to curtail the menace of armed banditry.

Acting Director, Defence Information (DDI), Brig. Gen John Agim, told The Guardian in Abuja, yesterday, that the military has a standby force that could curb any internal crisis in all parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the arrest of three suspects in the recent killings that occurred in Birane village, Zurmi Local Council Area, where suspected Fulani herdsmen killed about 40 persons.

Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Jimoh Moshood, gave the names of the accused as Halilu Garba alias Mabushi ‘M’ 45; Zubairu Marafa alias Wakili ‘M’ 45 and Nafi’u Badamasi alias Zakiru ‘M’ 40.

He said the suspects were assisting with investigations and would soon be arraigned in court.
