Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has suspended with immediate effect the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ibrahim, and the District Head of Kanoma, Alhaji Ahmad Lawal.

A statement by the Director General, Government House Press Affairs, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, said the pair were disciplined following complaints about their alleged involvement in banditry and other criminal acts in the state.

He said they remain suspended until the panel investigating them turned in its findings.

The monarch was subsequently directed to hand over his official vehicles and other valuable possession to the most senior district head, while the axed district head was instructed to relinquish stewardship to the most senior village head.
