The governorship candidate of the All Progress Congress, APC, for the November 6 Anambra guber elections , Senator Andy Uba has launched a ten-point agenda to tackle the current problems the APGA administration has plunged the state into.

Unveiling this at his Set New Agenda campaign tour, he called the ten-point agenda ‘Igwebuike’, enjoining Anambra electorates to join him in his journey to ensuring inclusiveness, fairness and justice towards all.

“Teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision . It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. I believe in the future of our great state. For this I will give my all . All I ask is that you play your part , so that together we can win,” he said.

Describing his manifesto as a dynamically multi-faceted public policy agenda, Andy Uba assures that this is the right agenda to restore the state’s glory as it is all encompassing as well as specific, measurable, realistic and achievable within a reasonable time frame.

According to Andy Uba, with a committed and competent state administration led by himself and working hand in glove with hardworking , creative and entrepreneurial citizens of the state, he is assured that the fortunes of Anambra would improve greatly.

The ten point agenda cuts across : Security, Education, Job creation, Infrastucture, Healthcare, Agriculture, Local government, Gender inclusivity, Environment and Youths and sports.

On security, which has been a major pain point in Anambra, and indeed most parts of the South East, Senator Andy Uba has devised strategies to tackle the divisions and unite all involved as an experienced negotiator. When elected briefly into governorship office in 2007, Senator Uba successfully dialogued with the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) who had been in active and sometimes violent conflicts for years in Anambra state.

To turn Anambra around, Uba will be working with the Federal Government and private sector to provide an enabling environment for Anambrarians to succeed. Via rapid industrialization, Anambra will attract Foreign Direct Investment, reward local investors, and encourage illustrious sons and daughters of Anambra to move home. The neglected local government offices would also be resuscitated for the full involvement of all so that governance is contributory and felt by all.

“My administration plans to have a two-pronged approach to providing the great state of Anambra with a first class public healthcare system. The first is a short-to-medium-term approach designed to be put into place within the first term of my administration. The second is a medium-to-long-term approach designed to thoroughly revamp Anambra State’s Ambulance and Triage System, as well as the building of new and making major upgrades to the existing hospitals in Anambra,” he said.

The two time senator plans to establish a Preventive Health Insurance Program (PHIP) and an Anambra State Hospitals Upgrade Program (ASHUP).

Expatiating further, the APC flag bearer said: “It is my solemn oath and commitment to have the proposed PHIP in place by the end of my first term in office as the Executive Governor of Anambra State. I will also begin with immediate effect, the ASHUP, and have, at least 60% of it completed by the end of my first-term in office as Executive Governor of Anambra State. If my administration has the privilege of a second term in office, I will ensure that both the PHIP and ASHUP are solidly in place , making the public health system of Anambra State second to none in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

PHIP would ensure that all Anambra indigenes have express access to cost-effective health screenings, early detection of diseases and affordable treatments with cutting edge medical technology while ASHUP would centre on the complete revamp of hospitals and healthcare centres, and deepening of the Anambra Health Insurance Scheme.

Andy Uba emerged as the APC’s candidate at a primary election held on June 26, 2021 and would run against seventeen other candidates at the November 6 polls.
