The Yobe South All Progressive Congress Christian Forum (APC-CF) has unanimously endorsed Baba Malam Wali to contest the Yobe governorship election in the 2027 general elections in the state.
According to the Forum, the official endorsement by the Christians was significant for an Inclusive governance for the collective 2026 Economic Progress and Development Summit (EPDS), where Christian stakeholders from Yobe South have resolved to fully back continuity and reward inclusive leadership in the state..
The endorsement to contest the gubernatorial election was contained in a communique signed by the Forum’s Convener, Omale John Achimugu on Saturday in Damaturu, the state capital.
The Convener described Wali, the former Secretary to the Yobe State Government, as a seasoned administrator with a wealth of experience, competence and institutional memory to sustain the various developmental projects and programmes of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The Forum, therefore lauded Governor Buni for deliberately integrating the Christian communities into governance by what he described as, restoring peace, providing infrastructures, and empowering youths and women.
Members of the Forum also noted that such inclusivity has strengthened democratic participation that fostered a sense of belonging among the minorites in the state.
“We are not just political supporters; we are partners in Yobe State’s collective destiny,” said the communiqué.
It also reads in part, “We call on all stakeholders, youths, women, and religious groups to rally behind this vision of continuity, unity, and inclusive governance to develop the state to greater economic heights.”
The forum also pledged to engage in peaceful, issue-based campaigns and uphold democratic processes, positioning itself as a bridge-building bloc within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country.
