The All Progressives Congress, APC, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are set for a four-way battle for most of the 109 senatorial seats in the 2027 general elections.
The candidates are contained in a document presented as the Certified True Copy of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s final list of senatorial candidates for the election.

The list shows that the four parties fielded candidates across most senatorial districts, although some districts have fewer than four candidates because one or more parties did not nominate candidates.
The NDC, the party of 2027 presidential candidate Peter Obi, has candidates in a large majority of the senatorial districts listed by INEC.

However, the party has no candidate in some districts, including all three senatorial districts in Bauchi State, Benue North East, Ekiti South, Kaduna South, Jigawa North East and the three senatorial districts in Yobe.
In Abia, the NDC fields Nkole Uko Ndukwe in Abia North, Nkechi Nwaogu in Abia Central and Enyinna Kasarachi Michael in Abia South.

The party also has candidates in all three senatorial districts in Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Taraba, among other states.
The list also throws up several high-profile contests involving serving or former political office holders.

In Kogi Central, for instance, the contest includes APC’s Yahaya Bello, NDC’s Salau Muritala Audu and PDP’s Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, according to the document.
In Kogi East, APC fields Ameh Erico Joseph, while NDC fields Ameh Peter Ojonugwa and PDP fields Muhammed Abdullahi.

In Lagos Central, APC’s Sanni Eshilokun Wasiu Olatunji faces ADC’s Abayomi Idowu Omotayo, NDC’s Johnson Lawrence Adeniyi Oladipupo and PDP’s Dakova-Vaughan Kolawole David.
The Lagos East contest lists APC’s Abiru Adetokunbo Mukhail, ADC’s Moshood Babatunde Olanrewaju, NDC’s Adebanjo Adeola Damilola and PDP’s Adeniji Victorin.

In Lagos West, APC fields Adebule Idiat Oluranti, against ADC’s Bello Owolabi Hafis, NDC’s Salvador Adegoke Moshood and PDP’s Phillips Adebiyi Abiodun.
The Federal Capital Territory also has a four-way contest, with APC fielding Philip Tanimu Aduda, ADC fielding Ireti Kingibe, NDC fielding Austen Peters-Pam Iyabode Amanda and PDP fielding Angulu Bako.

In Bayelsa West, the document lists former governor Seriake Dickson as the NDC candidate, alongside APC’s Agbiki Fidelis, ADC’s Ogola Christopher and PDP’s Ebebi Onduakpo Polycarp.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s home state, Kwara, also features four-way contests across the three districts. Kwara Central lists APC’s Abdulrazaq Abdulrahaman, ADC’s Abdulahi Risikat Motunrayo, NDC’s Suleiman Abdulrasheed Olufemi Omoda and PDP’s Saliu Mustapha.

In Kano North, APC fields Barau I. Jibrin, while ADC fields Saleh Shehu Kudawa, NDC fields Usman Sunusi Danbatta and PDP fields Sagir Abdulkadir Ahmad.
In Akwa Ibom North West, the list puts Senate President Godswill Akpabio of the APC against ADC’s Akpabio Patience Christopher Ibanga Obot and NDC’s Inemeh Patty Etete. No PDP candidate is listed for the district.

The document also records a number of districts where the PDP has no candidate.
These include Akwa Ibom North West, Cross River North, Delta South, Edo Central, Ekiti North, Niger East, Ondo Central, Osun East, Osun West and others.

Accord also appears in the Osun contests, with candidates listed in Osun Central, Osun East and Osun West.
The APC, meanwhile, has candidates across all 109 senatorial districts listed in the document, while the ADC also fields candidates in virtually all districts, with some exceptions.

Several prominent names are also listed under the APC, including former governor Adams Oshiomhole in Edo North, former governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Delta North, former governor Simon Lalong in Plateau South, former governor Abdulaziz Yari in Zamfara West and former governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi Central.
The list further shows that some senatorial contests could become closely watched political battles because of the calibre of candidates involved and the movement of politicians across parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, the document contains some entries that may require verification against INEC’s official publication, particularly where names appear duplicated, unusually formatted or inconsistent with known political identities.
For example, Ekiti North lists the same name, Oguntoye Ayobami Samuel, for both APC and NDC, while some other entries contain names split across separate lines or spelling variations.

The list therefore provides a broad picture of the 2027 Senate contests, but the official INEC publication should remain the authoritative reference for the final status, spelling and party affiliation of each candidate.
With 109 Senate seats at stake, the spread of candidates across the major parties points to a potentially competitive legislative contest alongside the presidential and governorship elections.
