As the Kwara State leadership and flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general polls, continued its ‘thank you’ tour of the Kwara South to appreciate members and stakeholders for their support at the party primaries, the chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, on Sunday said that the visit was to acknowledge loyalty and commitment of party faithful.

He noted especially those whose support ensured the successful conduct of the primaries that produced the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The delegation visited Ilemona, Erin-Ile and Offa, where Fagbemi hinted that: “the peaceful conclusion of the APC primaries, which produced candidates for all elective positions, including the party’s governorship flag bearer, Salihu Yakubu-Danladi, reflected the unity and strength of the party in the state.”

He contrasted the APC’s internal process with situation in some opposition parties still contending leadership disputes and disagreements over the emergence of their governorship candidates despite the timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Our mission is to thank the people of Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas for standing firmly behind the APC throughout the primary election process. Your loyalty, commitment and unwavering support contributed immensely to the success we recorded, and we felt it was important to return and personally express our appreciation,” he said.

The appreciation visit was attended by the party’s governorship, senatorial, House of Reps, and the state Assembly candidates, who joined in acknowledging the contributions of their hosts to their emergence.

According to Fagbemi, the delegation was also in the area to appreciate the traditional rulers in the area, for their roles in promoting peace, unity and democratic values across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onipe of Ipe, Oba Mufutau Lawal, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the developmental projects executed across Kwara State.

He urged the APC candidates to justify the confidence reposed in them by the people if elected into office, stressing the need for responsive and people-centred leadership.

Oba Lawal also reaffirmed the commitment of the people of Kwara South to the APC, assuring the party of their continued support as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
