Says state govt owes N 63bn debt, amidst poor performance

Anambra State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has presented his running mate for the November 18, 2017 election.

Lady Chidi Alexandra Onyemelukwe was presented at the PDP state secretariat in Awka.Onyemelukwe, from Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Council, has extensive experience in building businesses from the legal, operational and functional perspective

She served as Special Assistant to the President on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises for three years. She is a member of the New York State bar in the United States and in addition holds a Master o International law from the University of Lagos.

She gained her Bachelor of law from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff in the United Kingdom. She also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States.

Meanwhile, Obaze has alleged that Governor Willie Obiano’s government is owing a total sum of US$85 million (N31 billion) in foreign and same amount in domestic debt, insisting that the previous administration left N75 billion in the state treasury which is enough to provide amenities and improve lives of the people.

According to him: “My personal commitment to run an issues-based campaign remains strong. It’s about the marginalized and neglected communities that suffer under the crushing weight of gully erosion sites and horrible roads because this government has refused to treat all communities fairly.

“It is about how we have gone from zero debt to owing US$85 million (N31 billion) in foreign debt and a similar amount in domestic debt. Agents of the incumbent government must inform Ndi Anambra of their accomplishments in the past three years, how they have managed state resources and why the government of the day deserves to be returned to a second term.”

He alleged that agents of the state government and some other faceless bodies have resorted to tarnishing his image by sponsoring false information and unfounded accusations against him, saying they cannot distract him on focused campaigns.
