Ahead of August 15 gubernatorial poll in Osun and January 2027 presidential election, the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Olatunde Badmus, on Monday canvassed voters in Osun to cast their ballots for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer, Bola Oyebamiji, respectively.

This was just as a Muslim groups, consisting of United Imams and Alfas, Qodriyah Islamic Society, Progressive Muslim Teachers, Zumuratu-l-Mumineen, Imam Ratibi, Isale-Osun Zone and Alasaro in Osogbo, among others, declared their support for Oyebamiji during Saturday’s election.

Speaking on the sideline of programme held inside Government Reserved Area (GRA), Osogbo, Badmus enjoined the gathering of Muslims adherents, including persons with hearing impairment to ensure that Tinubu wins presidential election, considering the collective interest of Nigerians, most especially in the South West.

He stated, “As you can see, there are different Muslim groups here. As their leader, I had to communicate President Bola Tinubu’s position to them on the Osun election, and they are all here to endorse Tinubu’s candidate for the August 15 governorship election before we head to the 2027 general election next year.”

Badmus further disclosed that more than 500 persons, with hearing impairment at the event, who displayed their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have expressed their resolve to vote for Oyebamiji.

“They came with their voter cards to show that they have decided to go for Oyebamiji in this governorship election and that they are not ready to sell their voter cards, ”

Representatives of the groups, AbdulGaniy Olaoye of Zumuratul Muhmineenah and Alfa Kamaldeen of Qodriyah, also endorsed Oyebamiji, attributing their support to his competence and experience in delivering effective and good governance.

They subsequently promised to mobilise voters across their communities in support of the APC candidate in order to emerge victorious on Saturday.
