Ebonyi completes 500-km road in three years
Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi has said that his administration has completed no fewer than 500kilometres of roads including a minimum of 40kilometres of concrete roads across the local government areas of the state.
He also said that his administration has reconstructed over 100kms of federal roads within the state.
The governor spoke during Ebonyi day at the 29th Enugu International Trade Fair.
He said that his administration on assumption of office understood the enormous challenges faced by an average resident of the state and took bold steps to subsume them.
“Our people in the past endured sub-human standard of living and this spurred us to reach out and as well keep our doors open to various ideas in a bid to attract economic expansion and partnership.
“We have remained dogged, focused and determined right from inception to do the extraordinary. The exploration of our natural resources in the remotest part of our sites has been made possible,” he said.
Umahi said that his administration had achieved lofty heights in all sectors of the economy.
“I must mention, specifically, that the state built and equipped the Virology Centre for Lassa Fever Control and bought dialysis equipment donated to Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki, “ he said.
He said that his administration had installed over 250 number of 500KVA power generators for street lighting in the state capital and energised over 300km of street lights with over 450 transformers.
“Abakaliki has assumed not just as a modern state capital but also one of the cleanest in the country.
“Today, we can count on a number of achievements that make us proud to say to all: come to Ebonyi, see things and be convinced to business with us,” Umahi said.
Earlier, the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industries and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Mr Emeka Udeze, said that the chamber was proud to associate with the state.
Udeze said that Ebonyi has been a consistent participant at the fair.
