The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter has elected Andy Elerewe, as its chairman.

Until his emergence, Elerewe who is the Chief Executive Officer, AIBEN Investment and Property Limited was the association’s publicity secretary.

He emerged unopposed at chapter’s election held last week at its Abuja secretariat. His firm has over 15 housing estates in Lagos, Abuja and Katsina.

In an acceptance speech, Elewere said that the first thing he would embark upon is to reposition estate developers and change government’s perception of them as strategic partners and not people who are only concerned about making profit.

According to him, “we have common objectives in terms of providing housing, government has the basic responsibility of providing shelter and we are an instrument through which such could be accomplished.”

“So, it is important for them to see us as strategic partners because when you solve the issue of housing, almost everything is solved. You will have a crime free environment and a healthy as well as jobs for the people,” he said.

A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife and Metropolitan School of Business and Management, United Kingdom, Elerewe is a member of several professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Project Managers (CIPM).

REDAN is a professional body of real estate developers recognised by the Federal Government and saddled with the responsibility of providing affordable housing in the country.
