One of the leading real estate firms, Makarios Luxury Properties has launched a luxurious upmarket mixed development located in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.

The development, known as Makarios Luxury Place, modelled after Dubai Waterfront, is seated in a 33-hectare land between two major expressways facing the Lekki-Epe expressway to the north and proposed coastal road to the south.

“We are excited to be part of the new Lagos, especially the new development zone. The home of the world-class free trade zone and new Lekki international airport, according to the Chairman, Makarios Luxury Properties, Matthew Ashimolowo, who double as founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC).

Speaking at the groundbreaking of the estate, he explained that the word ‘Makarios’ means abundance, fortunate, increase and prosper, adding that the project is an attempt to showcase Nigeria in a way that will make the nation a destination to go to, where people will live, work and play.

He said: “Makarios is a place of five-star living, entertainment, excellent working environment with over 800 living spaces. You can choose an apartment in one of the 11 units of our iconic 10-storey buildings, christened Imperial Towers, from 230 service plots, 192 terraced houses and 18 detached houses.

The Makarios Residences are designed with exceptional taste and offer the highest class of sophisticated living and exclusivity with a choice of spacious luxury apartments, lavish detached homes, and elegant terrace buildings.

He added that the Makarios residence are of three types, the Anthizo meaning flourish (terrace building), which offers three storey living with luxurious features; the Deleazo (Detached homes) features six reception areas, two massive terraces among others and Imperial Towers (the Akmazo apartments) features 52 luxury apartments, 14 studio units 14 two-bedroom apartments, among others.

Some features of this development include professional facility management, 24-hour utilities management, water treatment and sewage treatment, as well as fire and smoke detection system.

“We want an estate where people can live that gives them a sense of excellence, a sense of serenity that is like a tourist destination.

“So, the commercial section has the water display place, some of the pumps will shoot water for 14meters, 10meters, six meters when the waters are condensed, it will become a TV screen, they can project behind the water. We want a place you can bring your children, family and relax.

“We also have a water display place, a water park for children, a big mall at the back of the water display place. Which is 8,000 square meters, a school, an office, a hotel,” he said.

Ashimolowo said “If you buy a Makarios plot, you won’t be bothered about cabling for power we have cabled it, you won’t be bothered about water, we have put water, planning a central sewage and treatment system. So, it is like creating Ikoyi, away from Ikoyi without the price of Ikoyi.”

Ashimolowo recalled that the purchase of the lands took about 23 years.”It took us 23 years to consolidate this, we were not in a hurry, people who were in a hurry would have cut it and sold. We didn’t sell we waited for 23 years and we don’t owe anyone, If we owe anything is our 27 roads, which we took a loan from one of the banks to do, the roads are ready, Nobody builds real estate the way we are doing it, we have already put the infrastructure before you even buying your plots,” Ashimolowo said.
