She later married the late Chief Ademola Rasaq Seriki, CON, Otun Aare of Lagos, who served Nigeria as Ambassador to Spain and Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation until his death in December 2022. When the late diplomat answered the call to serve the nation, she stood firmly by him, making a home with him in Madrid throughout his diplomatic posting. She remained by his side until his final days and, since his death, has continued to honour his memory, organising prayers each year for the repose of his soul.

A mother of three daughters and grandmother, Mrs Okoya-Seriki has also devoted much of her life to her family. Those who know her say she raised her children with an emphasis on hard work, discipline and family values, and takes pride in their accomplishments.
