Cheta Chukwu ready with PayDay

In recent time, Nigerian cinemas have witnessed large numbers of comic movies, mostly slap sticks that don’t get anywhere, in terms of thematic preoccupation.

However, acclaimed revolutionary director, Cheta Chukwu, is set to steer the movie crowd away from the usual slapstick comedy to very resourceful stories.

PayDay is Cheta’s joker and it is ready to cinema run. Produced by Manny Ameh and written and directed by Cheta, the movie features actors, such as Big Brother Naija runner-up, Bisola Aiyeola; Baaj Adebule; comedian, Ebiye Victor; Mawuli Gavor; Frank Adekunle; Meg Otanwa; Zack Orji and more.

PayDay follows the story of two best friends and flat mates, Paul (Adebule) and Ortega (Ebiye) who, just before they are about to renew their yearly rent, lost their landlord, who does not have any heir apparent.

The rest of the story leaves them in a tasty condition, but with good time to ‘enjoy’ a little. Promoted as a feel good comedy with an extraordinary acting skill from the young actors, Cheta is optimistic that PayDay would turn out one of the best movies to grace the cinema this year.

He enthused: PayDay is not your regular movie; we set out to make this movie one of the best this year and with what we have come to achieve, I believe we have one.

“It is a feel-good comedy that is not all over the place. The storyline is different and I am super proud of my actors, who are young, smart, vibrant and intelligent. “PayDay will be hitting cinemas soon. I hope at the end of the day, you all will go out to support this movie and be proud of us in the end.”
