Some screen celebrities have already started hugging movie sets. Some had a good run last year and it is expected that they will also have their hands filled this year. Here are a few of the screen celebrities that were nominated out of a large pool of on the screen personalities, as players to watch…

Some screen celebrities have already started hugging movie sets. Some had a good run last year and it is expected that they will also have their hands filled this year. Here are a few of the screen celebrities that were nominated out of a large pool of on the screen personalities, as players to watch in 2020. However, the list is not in any way exhaustive.

Shaffy Bello
NOTABLE actress, Shaffy Bello had an amazing run in 2019 and the actress, who first became noticeable after she featured in the 1997 hit song by Seyi Sodimu ‘Love Me Jeje’ is most definitely going to be on call for the better part of 2020. The mother of two, who most movie audiences met in works such as Chief Daddy, Love is War, Elevator Baby and Three Thieves, where she played Madam Boss, is sure going to have a busy year because according to industry observers, the actress has somewhat become some Nollywood producers first choice for actress in a supporting role who can deliver believably.

Ramsey Nouah, Jnr
POPULAR Nollywood actor-turned Director Ramsey Nouah had a busy year in 2019. Although it was the year that he had his directorial debut (directed and starred in the box office hit Living In Bondage), the sterling actor still found time to feature in other acclaimed hit productions such as The Millions, and the two-part hit by Ayo Makun aka AY ‘Merry Men’. With Living in Bondage off his shoulders, the sky as they say will be the starting point for the actor who was born under the star sign Sagittarius

Ali Nuhu
HAILED as the King of ‘Kannywood’, Ali Nuhu, who combines acting with directing and producing had a remarkably busy year in 2019 featuring in both English and Hausa language films. Personable, humble and hard working, the actor who already hinted that he is on location shooting one of his many call ups for the year, met eager Kannywood and Nollywood audiences in movies such as The Millions, Zero Hour, Merry Men, Karki Manta Da Ni, and Talatu among others.

Adesua Etomi-Wellington
NOLLYWOOD best, Adesua Etomi is sure going to sizzle in 2020. The stage and screen actress and singer had a great 2019 putting up superlative performances in some of Nollywood’s critically acclaimed productions Sugar Rush, Malika, The Warrior Queen’ and the across the border production Muna. The actress and wife of the pop artiste and later day actor Banky Wellington closed the year winning the best supporting actress crest at the 2019 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Genevieve Nnaji
SCREEN diva Genevieve Nnaji spent much of 2019 promoting her debut directorial feature ‘Lions Heart’. The movie, which was selected by the Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee as Nigeria’s entry for the Oscars but was later disqualified by the Academy of Motion Pictures, is reputed as the first Nigerian movie to be acquired by streaming giant Netflix. The movie also premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in 2018 and that also created a lot of buzz for the movie. Observers expect that Genny as the actress is simply called, will start hugging movie roles or begin work on her second directorial project.

Bimbo Manuel
VETERAN actor Bimbo Manuel had a good run in 2019. The stage and screen actor featured in some of the industry’s acclaimed hits of 2019 including Love is War, Sade, Heaven’s Hell, and 4th Republic. 2020 will surely be a busy year for the broadcaster and actor who hugs stage and screen roles so well.

Rahama Sadau
KANNYWOOD best and one of the few Kannywood actors that successfully crossed over to Nollywood Rahama Sadau had a good run last year appearing in a number of Kannywood movies and a couple of big budget movies that made it to the cinema across Nigeria. The amiable and humble actress looks forward to a good year as she hinted that she is already on set for a movie project.

Richard Mofe Damijo
POPULAR and award-winning actor, Richard Mofe Damijo or RMD for short had a busy year in 2019 featuring in some critically acclaimed hit and also working on his television series Mr. X Family show. 2020 will sure be a busy one for the actor’s actor whose acting chops in movies and television series like Gold Statue, Love is War, Zero Hour, Made in Heaven, and Castle and Castle made them tick.

Funke Akindele
AWARD-WINNING actress, Funke Akindele- Belo had a busy year last year working on her directorial debut ‘Your Excellency’ and on her very popular television series ‘Jenifa Diary’. The actress, director and producer revealed that she was so soaked on the Ebonylife production ‘Your Excellency’ and her personal projects including running her school- Scene One Academy that she had little time to feature in other projects. The actress however hinted that she has a couple of scripts she is considering, that will translate into a busy year for her.

Kate Henshaw
SCREEN diva, Kate Henshaw looks good to having a good run in 2020. The actress who has a felt passion for fitness closed 2019 with a superlative performance as Folashade in Akin Omotoso’s award winning movie ‘The Ghost and The House of Truth’. Produced by Ego Boyo, the movie earned the multi-award winning actress a deserved best actress award at the 2019 edition of the Africa international Film Festival (AFRIFF). The other movie that benefited from Kate’s expert portrayal of roles is the political thriller by Lala Akiindoju ‘4th Republic’ as directed by Ishaya Bako.
