Edo Carnival 2021 award excites Don VS
Don VS, the ‘Single Mother’ crooner, has added another feather to his cap as he has again been recognised in Rome as he bagged the Edo European Artist of the Year award during the recently held Edo Carnival 2021 in the Italian capital.
The Edo Carnival 2021 was organised in conjunction with Edo State Diaspora 30 Plus, a social-cultural group whose core value is to promote the culture and heritage of Edo people all over the world.
The Edo European Artist of the Year award was given to Don VS, whose real name is Uyinmwen Omosigho, by the Edo United Union in recognition of the artiste’s untiring efforts to promote Edo’s cultural heritage across the world.
Don VS was glad with the honour, describing it as an honour which he would cherish so much, especially coming from his own people, adding that he would continue to project the culture of Edo people to the farthest parts of the world as long as he lives.
“Edo European Artist of the Year is an award given to me by Edo United Union at Edo Carnival 2021 in Rome. This is a great honour from my very own brothers and sisters in Edo United Union. I am so glad and I want to say thank you so much to my people for deeming it fit to honour me this way.
“The award has put a heavy task on me not to disappoint the confidence the union has in me; that I should be a good ambassador of not only the union, but the government and the great people of Edo State. More importantly, I would also strive to be a good role model for our youths back home and in the Diaspora,” Don VS added.
Don VS is not new to receiving awards, as he has bagged numerous gongs in recent years, including Best Song of the Year at the ABMA Award Italy. His awards also include Most Popular Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2018 Creativity Merit Award, in Belgium, as well as European Artiste of the Year at the 2018 Money is Money Entertainment Awards.
He also won the 2019 Diaspora Artiste of the Year, courtesy of the Edo United Union Roma, Lazio, Italy and the Diaspora Artiste of the Year at the 2019 Godsent Foundation Award, as well as the Diaspora Artiste of the Year, same year in Germany.
