Evolution Children’s Choir sets to revolutionise music industry
As part of effort aimed at changing music narrative in the country, Evolution Children’s Choir recently organised a concert that served as a platform for vocally talented children irrespective of ethnic, racial and social background.
Fielding questions from journalists at the maiden edition of the concert held at Lekki recently, convener, Evolution Children’s choir, Philip Yaweh, noted that if children could be given the right platform early in life, they would become great stars in the future.
Yahweh, who is also the director of Evolution Music Company, observed that there are lot of gaps adding that many are just occupying spaces and not getting music education right.
Founded in 2020, Yahweh said he would love to see the children perform at ‘The Experience’, a yearly programme being organised by House on the Rock; the Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol.
“Sinach has a concert coming up this December; I look forward to getting the children perform at the concert,” he said.
According to him, the choir was borne out of a need to solve the problem of lack of platform or forum for vocally talented children from different background in Nigeria to converge, sharpen their vocal skills and showcase their singing prowess.
In a chat with journalists, Nigerian singer/songwriter, Timi Dakolo agreed that music is powerful and it develops mental prowess of the children.
Dakolo, who performed a number of hit songs, said he envied the children stressing that when he was younger, he couldn’t do what the kids are doing.
He urged the organisers of the concert to keep up the good work adding that he was going to support the choir financially.
Others artistes that performed alongside The Evolution Children’s Choir were Naomi Mac, Precious, Emmanuel, Blezed and Beekay, among others.
