Having enjoyed the glitz and glamour that come with being a participant in the reality show, it is now longer business as usual for contestants in the ongoing music show, Airtel The Voice Nigeria. After weeks of breath-taking battles, the show has obviously taken another interesting twist, as the competition has now moved to the live show stage.

The live broadcast, which began on Sunday June 26, 2016, was fun filled, as the contestants performed for the live audience and viewers, who have a role to play in keeping them in the house.

During the show, Judges/coaches Waje, TuFace, Timi Dakolo and Patoranking said “despite being tensed, we are very excited about the live shows because all the contestants have worked hard. We look forward to see what they bring on stage.”

TuFace Idibia, leader of #TeamTubaba further described the live shows as a ‘goosebumps moment.’

In the live show, each contestant is expected to perform while the team’s judge can only “save” one member from the team. The other contestants in the team are expected to vie for the votes of viewers to avoid being eliminated from the competition. The contestant that has the most vote stays on the show.

Leading the live show contest were contestants from #TeamWaje. Khemmie performed Happy by Pharrell Williams; Promise did a great job to Flavour’s Golibe; while Shammahsang did I’d rather go blind by Eta James and Beyonce; and Michael’s performance of Luther Vandross track definitely saved him, as he knelt before Waje’s throne to show his excitement.

Next was #TeamTimi whose contestants Joe Blue, Grace Mac, Dewe and Vicky all performed wonderfully well. However, Vicky was saved and the other contestants are canvassing for votes by viewers.

#TeamPatoranking’s Prime sang Fine China by Chris Brown; Chike thrilled the audience with Darey Art-Alade’s Not the girl; Linda 1nneka sang to Sia’s Chandelier and Sylvia Charles performed to Beyonce’s Single ladies. The round ended with Chike being saved.

#TeamTubaba’s contestants definitely put up a fascinating show, as their performances were stellar. Gabriel Song was outstanding with Tonight by John Legend. Viveeyan’s rendition of Asa’s Subway was beautiful. Vocal powerhouse, Emem’s Lay Me Down by Sam Smith stilled the crowd and Brenda’s performance was nothing but amazing with her soulful rendition of All about the bass. Brenda got saved.

Michael, Vicky, Chike and Brenda were saved in episode 12 of The Voice Nigeria. All other contestants are vying for the votes of viewers. Viewers can vote by texting the contestants number to 33120. Contestants can also vote via WeChat.
