From Nkoyo with love
The word, ‘Argungu’ is synonymous with fishing. This perhaps best describes the choice of a new baby from Nkoyo’s stable – the Argungu Restaurant. Carefully situated close to Jabi Lake, within the ever-busy Jabi Shopping Mall, Argungu berthed about a month ago with a singular promise; to satisfy customer’s quest for freshly prepared seafood within Abuja metropolis.
For those, who value quality food in a serene environment, Nkoyo is a brand to beat. Within the last seven years, the restaurant has begotten three branches, each providing decent meals as well as creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians. The newest branch, Argungu does not only promise to exceed customer’s expectations with cuisines that are 80 per cent sea food, it also boasts of the capacity to seat over 100 guests at a time.
The brand is the joint efforts of three names in intercontinental cuisines and beverages – Titus Elias, Maryann Ndumele and Hassan Nureini. For Elias, the choice of Argungu is to give a name that is most relevant to the concept of the eatery.
“Argungu is not just a restaurant, it is a brand, with 80 percent of its dishes comprising sea food. Yet, customer’s rights are respected. We do not depend on imported fish. Every fish is from Nigerian water,” he said.
He added that in the past seven years, Nkoyo brand has succeeded in creating loyal guests through the value it offers.
“We give good quality. When people know that Nkoyo is behind Argungu, they know what to expect; they know they are not taking a risk. And that also put us in a very difficult situation because people would expect the same standard as Nkoyo.”
Another quality that distinguishes Nkoyo brand is service delivery. Young Nigerians are trained to provide quality service in a manner that prepares them for engagement in any high standard hospitality outfit.
“Our attendants are trained to know what to do at any given time – that for us, is service delivery. Nkoyo is a Nigerian restaurant taking to another level,” Elias added.
In spite of its standard, operators of Argungu assures of affordable rates, stressing that affordable rates and quality value are necessary for business survival.
For Ndumele, it might be challenging, sourcing fresh seafood, the team is equal to the task.
“Many may be wondering how we would be able to cope with getting sea food; they need not worry, we are sourcing everything locally. Yes, it is challenging but we are equal to the task.”
