Record Label Executive and dance hall artiste, Aniekeme Usen popularly known as Murphy McCarthy has said that he is attracted to young artistes who are original in their style of music.

Murphy McCarthy who is the CEO of Alleluyah Boyz Entertainment (ABE) A label which he is also signed to, noted that just as the label groomed Zlatan, Oga Network and Strings, it is constantly beaming its searchlight for talents to grow the music industry.

According to him, “When it comes to searching for a new artiste, apart from being talented it’s all about originality and being ready to put in a lot of effort to achieve success together with the label.

Speaking on what stands him out, the Akwa Ibom born artiste who started his music career in 2009 in Benin City where he grew up and professionally in 2017, said he is more business oriented hence, his focus is always on not just making good music but also generating revenues that would keep the label afloat.

Sharing his experience while growing up, Murphy McCarthy revealed that it wasn’t easy for him as they had to feed from hand to mouth and all through primary to secondary school was really trying as a child, which is one of the reasons he will work hard to give his children the best in life.

He also revealed that music is his first love and that was why he also went into the business of music but as an entrepreneur who loves making an income from his investments, he has decided to also venture into other high profiting businesses.

On what he considers as a major challenge in the entertainment industry, Murphy MaCarthy said promoting music in Nigeria is a major setback, “as a record label you need to have a massive budget to push your artiste’s project and sometimes you might have lapses along the way because even when people are payed for promotion, they eventually don’t do the job properly.”

While Murphy MaCarthy has been doing a lot of recording following the COVID-19 pandemic, he has plans to to drop a new single before the end of the year and probably follow up with a visual and another single. He is also currently working on a new project with new act, Oga Network.
