Let go of the weights
“If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello”- Paulo Coelho
Success is letting go of people, perspectives and places that hold you back in life. You can only grow by letting go. Drew Gerald said: “You only struggle because you’re ready to grow, but aren’t willing to let go.”
Sometimes, you don’t realise the weight of something you have been carrying until you feel the weight of its release.
Most times in life, it is the things that we are holding on to that are affecting our growth. It can be a habit, perspective, mindset or wrong belief.
Hear this: If you want to fly, you have to give up the things that weigh you down. Many times, we need to give up some things to go up in life.
Once you stop chasing the wrong things, the right ones will catch up with you.
As a success, relationship and personal development coach, I have observed over my many years of helping people overcome the roadblocks to living a fulfilling and successful life that success don’t just happen; it comes from intentionally letting go of what I call the 3Ps.
Unhappiness is simply getting addicted to the wrong people, places and perspectives. One of the simplest ways to stay happy is to let go of all the things that make you sad.
If you really want to go fast and far in life, you must be prepared to let go of the People, Perspectives and Places (3Ps) that represent weights in your life.
You cannot hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive life.
When the wrong people leave your life, the right things start to happen. You must be willing to let go of people that are short-circuiting your growth and progress.
There are three kinds of people that you must let go in life- people that drain you, people that cannot see your worth and people who don’t have future plan.
Never plan a future with people who don’t have future plans. When you start seeing your worth, you will find it harder to stay around people who don’t.
The greatest hindrance to having the best people that God has prepared for you is holding on to the good ones. They may be good, but they are not the best for you.
Any relationship that is not adding value to your life is devaluing your life.
The people you surround yourself with will eventually play an important role in your happiness and spiritual health.
Sometimes, you have to move on without certain people. If they are meant to be in your life, they will catch up.
Perspectives: The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human being can alter his/her life by altering his/her perspective and approaches towards life.
Great people don’t necessarily do different things; they actually do things differently.
Thomas Jefferson said: “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
There is nothing that holds people down strongly in life than the wrong perspectives.
The kind of mentality, attitude, habit and value that form your lifestyle will surely determine how long you will have to struggle to breakthrough in life.
A bad attitude can literally block love, blessings and destiny from finding you.
Don’t be the reason you don’t succeed. What kind of attitude and perspectives are holding you down in life?
Life is too short to stay in the wrong places. There are places that are forbidden for destiny fulfillment.
Be mindful of ‘Where,’ with ‘Whom’ and ‘How’ you spend your time. You must be selective of the places you go in life. You can’t stay in the wrong places and expect the right things to happen to you.
There are places in life that reduce the price and worth on our lives. Be mindful of where you go, as they determine how far you can go in life.
The Bible captured this succinctly in Hebrews 12:1: “Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily slows us down, and let us run with patience, the race that is set before us.”
What are those weights that are slowing you down in life? You must never be emotional about the people and places that you need to cut off, as they will constitute a roadblock to your path of destiny fulfillment.
The new year is just around the corner, I challenge you to intentionally make a list of the wrong places, people and perspectives you need to cut off to go up. You are full of possibilities when you let go of ‘weights.’
If you really want to go fast and far next year, let go of the people, places and perspectives (3Ps) that represent weights in your life. Pain will leave you when you let go. Let go and let God!
