XBL is a child of passion, hardwork – CEO, Tomiwa Daniel

The luxury couture brand; “Xtrabrideslagos” popularly known as XBL stands shoulder high among competitors and peers in the fashion space in Nigeria. With offices in Lagos, the headquarters to Abuja, and across the shores of Africa to Turkey and the United Kingdom, it has become an international fashion brand operating at a level far beyond others in the trade.

According to the Founder and Creative Director, the dream began From a tender age. Oyetomiwa Elizabeth Daniel saw what she wanted and went after it. Having realized that with God’s grace, there are no boundaries or limitations, she reignited her childhood dream and the result is XBL.

“I have always had a fascinating passion for fashion as I was used to pointing out errors in outfits worn on TV at a very young age. For every dress I see, rather than look away, I found myself looking for missing pieces in the design. What could have been added or deducted? This drive went further and I remember starting a brand in my first year in the University “Jacket Plus”. Well, I didn’t see beyond a tiny jacket line at the time, it was basically Ankara jackets and tops I sold for N3,000. I knew for a fact I was naturally informed about fashion so I proceeded to fashion school in VGC.

“I opted for the Detailing course which today is a major attraction of my brand. I furthered my training in Paris, France in 2019 and concentrated on detailing as well. At this point, I knew I had all I needed to be the next big thing. When I came back to Nigeria I started my business in a tiny room in my boy’s quarters. In fact, I remember how excited I was when the very first client saw a dress I had posted on Instagram and paid in N30,000. My heart was in my mouth as it was a sign of fulfilment. I said to myself” Yes! This is the start of something great. XBL, essentially is a child of passion, a dream come true,” she narrated.

Apart from her strong point in creative detailing making, especially, with the use of appliqués and embellishments, she is also proficient in graphic design, interactive design Illustration and creative detailing. In all of her developing years, she grew to become a great writer and orator which makes her communication skill pronounced.

Born and raised in Nigeria, she has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bowen University, Nigeria.

Oyetomiwa Elizabeth Daniel is from Abeokuta, Ogun State. She is the first child of four children and born into a strong Christian family and grew up having a personal relationship with God.

Her educational resume has seen her attend St Louis Girls Secondary School, Bowen University,Iwo Osun State and service at a law firm right after her NYSC.
