NIGERIAN Tourism Development Commission (NTDC) has opened two tourism information desks at the new domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos (MM2) in order to ease traveler’s burden.

NTDC partners with Viko Nig. Ltd, a tour operator to set up the desk.

A week earlier, NTDC also commissioned information desks at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the departure lounge of the old domestic airport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

The Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Dr. (Mrs.) Sally Mbanefo, supported by Group Managing Director, Viko Nigeria Limited, Mr. Lucky Chidi Kanu; Chief Executive Officer of Bi Courtney Nig. Ltd. (Operators of MMA2 Terminal) Mr. Christophe Penninck and Head of Operations, FAAN, Mr. Dennis Okogwu, commissioned the two tourism information desks at the MMA2 Terminal and General Aviation Terminal of the Lagos Airport.

The information desk features a travel information portal for tourists as well as real time flight information which can be personalised.
Mrs. Mbanefo also explained that passengers can access the tourism sites in order view tourism activities, tourism products, hotels, car hire services, events and festivals. They can also make enquiries and book excursion trips to schools and sightseeing in Nigeria, she said.

The NTDC Boss expressed her gratitude to Viko Nig. Ltd., and described it as an exemplary initiative; she has also appealed to Nigerians to support NTDC in its drive to develop tourism in Nigeria.

She specifically appealed to Telcos, oil & gas sectors and banks to collaborate with NTDC to create awareness about tourism. While reiterating her commitment to domestic tourism, Mbanefo said plans are underway to open similar desks in all the airports in Nigeria.

Viko GMD, Mr. Kanu said his company partnership with NTDC aims at promoting tourism in Nigeria and helps grow investment in the industry.

“This effort is not money-oriented, rather, borne out of our strong passion for the growth of the industry and this is the moving force behind this partnership,” he said. He added that the portal is opened to provide information about Nigerian numerous tourism sites that are not known to tourists.

“Also, we are promoting domestic tourism in order to increase revenue generation in the country and create openings for job opportunities for our teaming unemployed population as part of my strategic imperative.”
