Oritsefemi, Daddy Showkey, others thrill, as GOtv Customer Fair ends

Having visited other regions of the country, the GOtv Customer Fair finally landed in Lagos recently with loads of fun and excitement. Staged at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, the gig was part of activities to mark the 5th-anniversary celebrations of the pay-TV service provider in Nigeria.

In line with the tradition of the free gig, the team stormed the venue with notable entertainers such as Daddy Shokey, Oritsefemi, Mr. Ibu, Aki & Paw Paw (Chinedu Ikedieze and osita Ihema) and host of other entertainers, who took their turns on stage to thrill the audience made up of mostly GOtv customers, dearlers and agents.

Anchored by Helen Paul and comedian MC Acapella, who spiced the event with jaw breaking jokes, as well as presented guests with free gifts, the evening started with performances by some upcoming acts before a dance troupe took to the stage to set the tone for the evening with a well-choreographed dance routine. Actor Mr Ibu also got slot to entertain the crowd and shared goodies.

The audience roared in excitement as petit Nollywood actors Aki & Paw Paw came on stage. In their usual character, both entertainers got the crowd cheering, as they took some kids on a mini dance contest that saw many winning gifts. Then the stage was clear for Ajegunle star Daddy Showkey to thrill the crowd.

Immediately DJ Kentalky played his hit track, Somebody Call My Name from gigantic woofers positioned at strategy sections of the hall, the singer took to the stage, in company of his dancer, and rocked the stage with garala dance steps. While older members, who witnessed the good old days of Showkey, sang along, the younger generation just danced to his tunes. From Fire Fire to If You See My Mama and other tracks, Showkey took the audience down memory lane.

Singer Oritsefemi eventually calmed the already charged atmosphere with his track, Mercies Of The Lord, but then raised the tempo with Igbeyawo, a track that got the crowd rocking.

The highpoint of the evening was the official cutting of the birthday cake by top management of GOtv and their partners.

It was not just about fun, as subscribers, who had difficulties with their hardware or service were attended to by the GOtv Clinic set up at the venue for that purpose.

Addressing the gathering, General Manager GOtv Akinola Salu recalled how the pay-tv company got into the Nigerian market five years ago in Ibadan, thanking subscribers for their patronage.
