It was a moment of celebration in Lagos as Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji personally presented prizes to the first 10 winners of the recently concluded “Baba Eta Challenge” on DusDus, a creative talent platform and community for Nigerian youth.
The presentation, held at the DusDus office in Lagos, brought together the winners, representatives of the platform and the award-winning actor, who was visibly delighted to celebrate the participants who stood out in the challenge. Coker Oluwarantimi, who placed first, received a cheque for N1 million, while Ajewole Ayomide and others received N200,000 each.
The challenge built on Adedimeji’s popularity and his much-loved “Baba Eta” persona, giving fans and followers a chance to join a fun digital campaign while competing for prizes. For the winners, meeting the actor in person added another layer of excitement to an already engaging experience.
Rather than have the prizes distributed on his behalf, the actor chose to hand them over himself, turning the presentation into an intimate celebration of creativity, participation and the growing bond between entertainers and their digital audiences.
His collaboration with DusDus also reflects how entertainment personalities and digital platforms are working more closely together, with challenges, audience participation and creator-led campaigns becoming powerful engagement tools. The event underscored the importance of recognising audience participation, too: for the winners, what began as a social media challenge ended in a face-to-face meeting with one of Nollywood’s most popular faces.
DusDus is an entertainment and creators’ contest app that lets young Nigerian content creators create, share and win rewards for their video posts across a variety of engaging challenges. It is free to download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
