Reputed for his distinct rap style as well as his creative ingenuity, Chocolate City lyricist, Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez, has teased a softer side of his character, revealing a warm, vibrant, and feel-good aspect with his latest project, Fire On Me album.

Capturing the essence of new-love with its infectious rhythm and heartfelt lyrics, the track is laced with a smooth beat that perfectly highlights his storytelling of a woman that he is obsessed with.

The new single marks a significant shift in his musical journey. For the first time ever in his over nearly half a decade discography, the rapper-singer yields to the traditional sense of love – having previously been an advocate for open relationships and explored a rather defiant approach to romance.

Released on Friday, July 19, Fire On Me is a soulful anthem that embodies the essence of a sizzling summer romance, showcasing the music sensation’s evolution as an artiste. It comes on the heels of his recent hits Warning! featuring Kel-P and Technician featuring Odumodublvck. It also follows the release of his critically acclaimed album Emeka Must Shine, a Long Playlist (LP) that raked in over 160 million streams and reinstated his position as one of Nigeria’s finest artistes.

The 14-track corpus contain hits like Cinderella Girl, Like Ice Spice and Like Bezos, showcases Blaqbonez’s multilayered talent and unrivaled versatility, seamlessly threading together forward-thinking sounds and genres including Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Drill, R&B, and Alté.

From his breakout album Sex Over Love, the rapper-singer has risen up the ladder with consistency, amassing for himself a fan base that recognizes his energetic rap style, vocal qualities and overall audacious approach to music, which earned him the sobriquet ‘Drake of Nigerian music’.
