18th Nestle Milo Basketball Championship national final dunks off

The grand finale of the 18th Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship will begin today at the Indoor Sports Hall of Asaba Stadium, Delta State, with six male teams and six female teams representing the six geopolitical zones.

The competition will end on June 11.

In the draws released by the organisers, In Group A, Wesley Girls Senior Secondary School, Lagos will take on Government Secondary School Gboko, Benue State, in the opening game of the Girls category at 1.00pm; St. Jude Secondary School Amarata, Bayelsa State tackles Harmony Secondary School Lokoja, Kogi State at 2.00pm, while in the Boys Category, Hosts Boys Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Delta State will tackle General Muritala Muhammad College Yola, Adamawa State by 3.00pm and Government Secondary School Karu, Abuja squares up with Crowther Memorial College Lokoja, Kogi State at 4.00pm.

Speaking at the draws ahead of the start of the final round, President of Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF), Malam Ibrahim Muhammad, who was represented by the NSSF First Vice President, Mr. Monday Obi, expressed delight with Nestle Nigeria PLC for supporting basketball development from the grassroots in the country.

The Secretary, National Collegiate Sports Foundation (NCSF), Mr Lanre Balogun, also expressed satisfaction with Nestle’s contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria. He said that the company’s unflinching support showed that it was worthy of praise and Nigerian basketball has benefited immensely from the competitions.
