Customs, NSCDC win Nigeria Volleyball Premier League


Nigeria Customs Service men’s volleyball team and Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) women team have won the first phase of the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League, which ended in Asaba, Delta State at the weekend.

Nigeria Customs Service beat NSCDC 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20) to top the men’s group, while NSCDC defeated Nigeria Customs Service 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 19,25, 27-25, 18-16) to top the women’s group on day six of the league.

In the overall table, Nigeria Customs finished first with 19 points, NSCDC came second with 18 points, while Nigeria Police Force earned the third spot with 14 points in the men’s league.

Nigeria Immigration Service placed fourth with 13 points, Kano Pillars ended fifth with 11 points, Plateau Rocks picked three points to stay on the six position, Famous Spikers of Bayelsa ended seventh with two points, while UCEM of Enugu finished eighth with one point in the men’s standing.

In the women’s category, NSCDC led with 17 points, Nigeria Customs came second with 16 points, COAS Spikers of the Nigeria Army came third with 11 points, while Nigeria Immigration Service took the fourth position with seven points.

In fifth place was Kada Emeralds of Kaduna with six points, sixth position went to Delta Force with three points, while Benue Queens were seventh with zero points.The second phase of the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League will begin in Abuja on a date to be decided by the League Management Committee.
