Dare sees many positives at Nigeria’s 62nd Independence anniversary

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has said that despite of the various challenges facing the country, Nigeria has many reasons to celebrate in the areas of sports and other facets of national life. 

Answering questions from journalists in Abuja, Dare noted that despite predictions that the country would disintegrate, Nigeria has remained a united and one indivisible nation. 

He said, “When a country attains 62, it is the age of maturity, wisdom and knowledge. There are prospects for this nation, despite predictions that this country would disintegrate.

“We have seen today even through the displays that, security is improving; in the past, we could not come here for two years under another government because of bomb blast. 

“So, I think that there are prospects for the country. America is over 250 year-old, Great Britain is over 200 years, we are just 62 years, this country is great and will be greater.” 

The minister observed that there is prospect for the country and commended the tenacity and the commitment of Nigerian youths.

He noted that the youths are central to the development of the country and stressed the need to invest in the youths and tap into their vast talents. 

“The youths are central to our development; of Nigeria project vitality, strength and courage, that is what our country needs. The youth population is important and a great resource to the country and we will continue to tap into their versed talents.

“We need to invest in them, not by giving them pocket money but invest in their enterprises and ideas so that they can help to develop this country.”
