David Luiz joins Arsenal
Arsenal have announced the sign of Brazilian defender David Luiz from Chelsea, a few hours after the club announced the arrival of another defender Kieran Tierney from Celtic.
“David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again,” David Luiz. “He is a well-known player and adds to our defensive strength.”
The Gunners will pay a reported £8 million for the Brazilian centre-back to fill the void left by former captain Laurent Koscielny’s acrimonious departure to Bordeaux earlier this week.
Luiz started his career with Vitoria in Brazil, before moving to Portugal where he played for Benfica. He also had two spells with Chelsea and spent two years in France with Paris Saint-Germain, where he played under Unai Emery. He has 56 international appearances for Brazil to his name.
