Delta releases Keshi’s final burial plan

The Delta State Government yesterday in Asaba announced the final plan for the burial of former Super Eagles’ player and Chief Coach, Mr. Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.

According to the plan announced by the state’s Director of Information, Mr. Paul Osahor, there will be a requiem mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State by 9.00 a.m. on Thursday, which will be preceded by a lying-in-state at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State at 11.00 a.m., just as a novelty match in honour of late footballer featuring retired footballers and tributes will also take place at same venue.

Soon after the match, he said, the body would depart the Edo State capital for Asaba, Delta State, for lying-in-state at Stephen Keshi Stadium’s indoor hall, Asaba, at 3.15 p.m.

Osahor revealed that a service of songs/vigil mass would hold on the same day at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Illah, Delta State by 6.00 p.m. prompt.

“The body will depart from Asaba for his hometown, Illah, at 7.00 a.m., the traditional rites will hold at 8.00 a.m. before the lying-in-state at Stephen Keshi’s family home, Ukpologwu Quarters, Illah at 7.30am.

“Also, there will be a requiem mass at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church by 10.00am and this will be followed by interment,” he said.
