First lady urges AFUED graduates to fuel national growth

The wife of the President of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged graduands of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo State, to design plans that will enable them to give back to their alma mater.

While counselling the fresh graduates to put into full use the knowledge they have acquired while studying at the institution, the president’s wife assured them that the university will be incorporated and carried along in the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The first lady stated this while being honoured by AFUED, her alma mater, with the conferment of Doctor of Science in Education during the institution’s 53rd convocation ceremony.

Represented by Kayode Ojo, an Ekiti-born politician, who was recently made the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, Remi Tinubu urged the graduands to remain focused and bring into use all the knowledge they had garnered in the institution.

Ojo assured that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration was committed to improving the quality of the educational system in the country.

He said, “As you continue to progress, you remember that you must put in your plan to give back to this great institution. The university will be incorporated and carried along in the renewed hope agenda of Mr President.”

The convocation captured 18,825 graduands, and it is the first held since the upgrading of the institution to university status, which used to be a college.

The graduands were conferred with different certificate awards, with 51 students having First Class, 3,090 with Second Class Upper, 6,805 got Second Class Lower, 2,087 with Third Class and 154 got Pass.

The first lady was honoured along with the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, and Emeritus Professor of African Studies, Prof. Toyin Falola, who were also recipients of the institution’s honorary doctorate degrees.
