Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has extolled Zenith Bank and HIDEA-PLUS for contributing to the success of the state government’s free Education programme through the education support activity like football.

Governor Okorocha, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner of Education, Prof. Florence Emenalo at the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between HIDEA-PLUS and Imo State, the sponsors’ coming was timely in view of the already existing free education programme of his government. He added that it would enhance effective involvement of Imo children in learning through such education support activities which sports is major part of.

She disclosed that the present administration in Imo has given children free education from primary school to tertiary level, adding that the Principals Cup would help cement the programme.

Emenalo maintained that the ministry would support HIDEA-PLUS to ensure the success of the competition and enjoined​ the partners to be at their best in organising a worthwhile tournament.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of HIDEA-PLUS, Tony Pemu said the agreement between his organization and Imo State was a step towards furthering the developmental stride of the Okorocha led administration through this education Support initiative.

Pemu said the football competition was for all public and private secondary schools in Imo and would help discover budding talents in the state, keep students out of social vices and give them opportunity to be physically and mentally alert.
