Luba Football Club have announced the appointment of respected football development expert Richard Okwashi as their new Technical Director, reinforcing the club’s commitment to building a sustainable football structure driven by youth development, technical excellence and long-term sporting success.
The appointment represents another significant step in Luba FC’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as one of Nigeria’s emerging football institutions by investing in modern football management, player development and technical innovation.
Popularly known within Nigerian football circles as “Rico,” Okwashi arrives at the club with extensive experience spanning coaching, scouting, talent identification and football administration.
Over the years, he has earned recognition for his disciplined leadership, technical expertise and ability to identify and nurture young talent, making him one of the country’s promising football development professionals.
Before joining Luba FC, Okwashi served as Team Coordinator of Ikorodu City Football Academy’s U-17 and U-19 teams, where he played a pivotal role in the academy’s growth and competitive success.
As Team Coordinator, he was part of the management team that guided Ikorodu City to promotion into the Nigeria National League (NNL), while contributing significantly to player development and the club’s football operations.
