As the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) continues to foot-drag on its activities towards presenting a formidable squad at Asaba 2018 African Senior Athletics Championship, a private body, Making of Champions (MoC) is set for its first Grand Prix and Relays in Lagos.

The event will run from today to Thursday at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Lagos.

“It’s been a tough year for athletes in Nigeria with the dearth of competitions since the last Commonwealth Games, so the first MoC Grand Prix and Relays was borne to show our support to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) by hosting a competition to help keep Nigerian athletes active ahead of the African Championships in Asaba in August,” a statement by MoC said yesterday.

“We are therefore pleased to announce that the AFN has confirmed its support for this event by providing its electronic timing device to ensure ratification of the results by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), allowing the Athletes to post times that can be used to qualify for International Competitions holding this year.
